Eligibility for Climate Action Incentive Payment in 2024
To be entitled for the Climate Action Incentive Payment, first condition is you need to be resident of Canada or a resident of Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island or Saskatchewan. Also, you need to fulfill one of the below-mentioned conditions:
- At the time of the payment you need to be of 19 years of age or older.
- Have a spouse or common-law partner.
- A parent whose child lives with them
How to Claim Climate Action Incentive Payment 2024
- Applying for the Climate Action Incentive Payment is a very easy and simple process. You do not have to apply for the CAIP separately if you live in Canada or any of the above mentioned cities.
- Your entitlement will be automatically assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency or CRA using the data from your income tax returns and benefit return. Only one of you and your common-law partner or spouse will be eligible for the family credit, and that person’s tax return will be paid first.
- There is a CAIP supplement that may be available to residents in small towns and rural areas. You must fill out Schedule 14 and submit it with your income tax and benefit return in order to receive this supplement. However, since the rural supplement is already included in the base amount, Prince Edward Island residents do not required to claim it on their tax returns.
When can you Expect Climate Action Incentive Payment 2024 ?
- Canada Revenue Agency or CRA sends this payment on the 15th of April, July, October, and January month. If the 15th falls on Saturday or Sunday or any national holiday, the payment will be made on the last business day before the 15th.
- People residing in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan will receive four equal payments. All in April, July, October and January in the 2023-2024 payment tenure.
There will be four payments in the year 2024-2025 after the first three installments in July 2023, October 2023, and January 2024 to residents of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. You will get CAIP by direct deposit if you get your tax refunds by direct deposits. This amount will reflect in your bank account in the name of “Climate Action Incentive”.
