SRD, R350, R510, Pension, Child Grant Change 2024

There were some changes in the 2024 SASSA Grant Increase with pension, child grants and SRD marking some increase in the payment amount. These revisions aim to counteract rising living costs and offer additional support to beneficiaries.

  • SRD: R350 was the original monthly amount of the SRD grant. However, the grant has been extended for 2024 but without an increase in the amount.
  • Child Support GrantR510 is the new monthly amount for the Child Support Grant and R1130 for the Foster Care Grant, reflecting a R10 increase implemented in 2024.

  1. SRD Grant:
    • Your monthly income should not exceed R624.

    • Applicants must be South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees/asylum seekers with valid papers.
    • Applicants shouldn’t be receiving any income from any source, social grant, UIF payment, NSFAS stipend, or other government financial support.
    • Not residing in a government-funded or subsidized institution.
  1. Child Support Grant (CSG):
    • Caregiver Requirements:
      • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee with valid papers and must reside in South Africa only.
      • You should be the primary person responsible for caring for the child.
    • Child Requirements:
      • Your Child should be under 18 years old.
      • Child shouldn’t be in the care of a state institution.
      • Your Child should be living with the primary caregiver, who isn’t paid to look after the child.
  2. Older Persons Grant (Pension):
    • Generally granted to individuals 60 years of age or older who do not have significant other sources of income.
    • Income for singles shouldn’t exceed above R86,280 and R172,560 for married couples.
  • Applicants must not be cared for in a state institution that receives subsidy funding.

To apply and get benefits from 2024 SASSA grant increase, then one may visit the nearest SASSA office and complete the application form in the presence of a SASSA officer and keep the dated stamped receipt as proof of application.   2. They are not including Medically disabled persons. I worked at a school as a Governingbody employee who had no benefits from goverment. I worked for 7 years upto my accident. Since 2020 I am at home and have tried to apply to get a payment form them. But until now, I have not seen 10 cent. I have to struggle to get through. I am 51 and cant work because of a brain injury that I obtained because I fell. I am on medication due to braindamage. They are not including everyone.
